Simple steps to planning your wedding
Welcome and congratulations on your forthcoming marriage!
We want to help and support you from your first contact with us to your first anniversary and beyond. We’re here for you at every step.
Visit the Church
Arrange a time for both of you to come along to discuss what happens next.
Preparation
It is very useful for you both to spend time at a number of Sunday services to gain an understanding of the Christian faith and Christian marriage and a deeper insight into the place of hymns and music in relation to the church itself, and we encourage you to so this during the time before your wedding, as part of your preparations.
Banns
Banns are announcements in church of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place. On these occasions, everyone in our church will also be praying for you. It can be very special and moving, so come along if you can. You are very welcome to invite your family and friends to hear your banns being read too.
Rehearsal
Near your wedding day, perhaps a day or two before, you will usually have the opportunity to come to the church and rehearse the ceremony with those who are involved.
The Big Day
The team here at St. Gabriel’s will do all they can to make the day a personal, meaningful and spiritual experience for you and your guests.
First Anniversary and beyond
St. Gabriel’s will always be here for you throughout your marriage if you need us. Even if you did not get married here, we would be delighted to mark your first anniversary by praying for you both. Just come along and ask us.
