Administrators Report 2017

It has been a very busy year here at St. Gabriel’s. Our hall is now in use every day with regular hall bookings or Church activities from a toddler singing group to The Golden Club, with the Boys Brigade, Scouts and Kumon in between, and it’s good to see such a wide range of ages using the hall. It is also very pleasing that our church is used by the Open Heavens prayer group, and by The Living God Church. Also, of course the hall is used extensively for our own events and social get togethers, most often for the fabulous monthly ladies and men’s breakfasts.

Part of my role as Administrator is to do the admin for our Occasional Offices. This means that I write Baptism and Blessing, Banns and Marriage certificates.  It is very encouraging that St. Gabriel’s continues to be a popular choice for these celebrations, and this year we celebrated 16 Baptisms, 1 adult Baptism, 5 Name Blessings, 4 Weddings, and 1 Wedding Blessing

We also have occasional bookings for private parties and functions, and it is always particularly nice to see a Baptism Party booking. We are even in a position of occasionally having to turn down a booking request as we are so popular.

The Hope Café that runs on a Tuesday morning between 10am and 12 noon has become a very popular meeting place that gives everyone from young families to our older residents a chance to meet, chat and socialise over a delicious coffee, tea or hot chocolate. It is thanks to the hard work of Jo, Cath and the Mother’s Union volunteers that the Café has been such a great success.

I would like to give many thanks to Jenny and Steve for all their hard work for the last year in keeping the hall and facilities spotlessly clean for our many users.

I am very much looking forward to the refurbishment of the hall and kitchen, and the building of the new meeting rooms, about to start soon, as there is a great need for these facilities in Popley. I feel privileged to be working for St. Gabriel’s at a time of exciting changes. The new and improved facilities will be such a blessing to both our Church family and the local community.
